The Old Leaven—Why WeDon’t Walk This Walk
We, as followers of the true God, are likened in scripture as part of the bread of life. He is, of course, the bread of life. But we need to realize that when we come into His body, we become part of His body and therefore are that bread of life, too. It is here that we, however, must take heed as to how we carry on as a member of His body. We are admonished to purge out the old leaven. The leaven is that part of the bread that puffs up the bread. All the way through, God’s people are told of the importance of unleavened bread. So we are to get rid of the old leaven in our lives. Old leaven is “malice and wickedness.” It is old false teachings and erroneous concepts. It is the clinging to false doctrines concerning Yahweh’s true faith. Why can’t we walk easily in the true path? It is because of all of the old attitudes of pride and arrogance. And this attitude will rob us of power with Him to walk the walk of His true disciple—to walk the way the prophets and apostles of old walked with Him.
