The Order of Melchisedek

Our Father Yahweh has placed within the hearts of each and every one of His sons and daughters a hope.  This is the hope of becoming just that – His immortal sons and daughters.  They cannot see the end product of His handiwork in them, for, at present, they are still mortal.  But this hope of becoming like Him drives them to purify themselves.  And this hope will help them enter that within the veil.

They are anonymous now.  They are hidden from view behind mortal earthly bodies.  At the time of His coming back to earth, He will grant to them immortality.  Their present body will be changed into a body composed of spirit.  But it is this hope that one day they might become His manifested, glorified, immortal offspring-this is what will press us on through the veil.  …who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Yahshua.  Hebrews 6:18-20. NKJV.

Leading up to this passage, we have Paul talking about Christ.  He was called “after the order of Melchisadek.”  Now Melchisadek was the King of Salem, the King of Peace to whom Abraham gave a tenth of all.  He was “without descent” and had immortality.  For this Melchisadek was “without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually” (7:1).

The Order of Melchisedek

And now we have Yahshua the Son of God who has become a High Priest after the order of Melchisadek.  This “order” is from the Greek word taxis,  #5010 in Strong’s.  It means “regular arrangement, ie. (in time) fixed succession “ of rank or character), official dignity: order.”  This word is derived from the verb tasso, #5021, meaning “to arrange in an orderly manner; ie. To assign or dispose (to a certain position or lot).”

We see that this “order” of Melchisadek is something assigned and arranged by God for certain individuals.  It is a fixed thing in the mind of God; He will bring it to pass.  This same word tasso is translated “ordain” in many places and has this same connotation.  And as many as were ordained (tasso) unto eternal live believed. Acts 12:48.   In other words, those who were not ordained by God to eternal life did not believe and make it in.  Those who were not assigned or appointed unto eternal life did not believe to receive it.

The powers that be are ordained by God. Romans 13:1.   He has established them here on earth.  He rules in the kingdom of men, it says in Daniel.  He gives the orders, and it is done.  That is power.  God has placed the political and economic leaders in power.  He arranged it that way.

So we see that the order of Melchisedek is an arranged assignment by God Almighty to inherit immortality-in His own time and place.  It is not a calling that we earn.  It is something he does of His own accord.  There is an order for receiving immortality.  It has been preordained, pre-determined who will come into His glory.  First Yahshua the Anointed One, then afterwards those that are His at His coming.  He is the first from the dead.   Then we come in the first resurrection.  Then those at the second resurrection.  There is a definite arrangement of those who will receive eternal life.

And Paul in Hebrews would have liked to expound more on this order of immortality, which is perfection or completeness.  This message about the immortal Melchisedek-just who this entity is-is something that babes in Christ cannot get into.  This message of immortality is likened to strong meat, solid spiritual food, and cannot be given to those who cannot discern that God uses both good and evil to bring His sons to perfection.

Good and Evil Both from God

He had written earlier that the Saviour “learned obedience by the things He suffered.”  A certain amount of “good and evil” was ordained for Him to come to His full fruit-bearing capability as the Son of God.  He realized that good and evil things come from the Father and are meant for out perfection.  A babe in Christ wants only “good” things to bless him; he is still self-centered like a human baby and has not got the revelation that God uses the “evil” found here on earth to bring on sufferings, which in turn, brings us unto perfection.  A spiritual babe still does not believe that the evil which attacks us comes from God.  “All things are of God” is quoted but rarely believed.  But the sons and daughters of Yahweh will begin to realize this, and they will know of a surety that they need the sufferings in order to perfect agape love within.

To prove beyond a doubt that evil and suffering are “things of God,” go with me to when the Saviour was preparing to go to Jerusalem, “and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”   In Mt. 16:21-23, Peter proclaims that this is not going to happen to you, Master.  We won’t let them do this!  To which the Saviour replied, “Get behind Me, Satan!”  And Peter thought that he was doing the right thing in preventing the crucifixion, but it was the spirit of Satan using Peter.   “You are an offense to me, for you  are not mindful of the things of God.”  The things of God?  The evil elders and chief priests of the Jewish religion, bringing on  the betrayal and suffering of the crucifixion?  Those things are the “things of God”?  Yes.  The sufferings were foreordained before the world ever was by a loving and kind Creator for His Incarnation as Immanuel, God with us.

Peter was like a babe and could not discern that evil and sufferings were things of God that must be endured by his sons to bring them to perfection.  And still, most “followers of Christ” are not ready for the message of immortality because of this.  Paul did have many more things to say about all of this, but the readers needed to grow up in the word.  They were only ready for the milk of the word, for they were inexperienced and unskillful in the word of righteousness.  The meat of the word, the word about immortality and how to achieve it, is for those who are mature and experienced in enduring good and evil for His sake.

Be all of this as it may, God did promise immortality to His elect and swore by an oath to perform it for them.  God will bring us to perfection!  He will grant us immortality!  God confirmed this promise by an oath.  He could not swear by anyone greater so, He said it first and then swore that He would bring it to pass.  These two unchangeable things-His spoken promise and then Him swearing an oath to bring that promise of immortality to pass-insures to us that He will do what He has said He will do.  And this gives us great hope!  I am talking about a hope to live forever!  To never taste of the vacuum of death.  To always be able to laugh with our children and grandchildren forever and ever!  What a precious promise that God has given unto us!  Our hearts should leap with praise and gratefulness!  HalleluYah! Praise Yah!

It is this hope of defeating death right here on earth-this hope for immortality in Him-that is based on our belief of His word to us.  This hope of eternal life is a strong consolation and helps us flee worldliness “for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.  Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil” (Hebrews 6:18-9), where our forerunner has already entered, Yahshua the Saviour-a “High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.”

Yes, our hope is in God’s promise to grant to us immortality.  And this granting of immortality to His sons will be accomplished at the end of these latter days.  Yet this granting of immortality does not just happen at the time of the apocalypse; it is the apocalypse!
